It's a crime against Ray Parker Jr. that this terric album is not available on CD.What Ray can do with his singers,his guitar and a moog synthesizer is simple,direct and funky beyond belief and here he does it with some of his catchiest music.For... those who want to groove the wildly jamming title song,"Hot Stuff" and the compulsive "When Your In Need Of Love".The big hit was "You Can't Change" and on that Ray (as stated) again puts it plain out there as the better side of the black Dr.Phil-"I think the whole world of you and you can't change that".That might be why people think of his music as kiddie poppish-his lyrics are so simple and basic they may so over the heads of those looking for hidden meaning.Any filler?Nope-'Honey I'm A Star".Same goes for the wistful "Goin' Through School And Love" and "More Then One Way TO Love A Woman" with it's great acoustic guitar intro.After working with Herbie Hancock and Stevie Wonder it's apparent how much Ray learned from them-how to be cathcy and funky all at once.On of the best (and somewhat uncelebrated) funk outfits of the 70's and 80's.
