Rites of Spring

Rites of Spring
Instead of addressing hardcore's standard political and social themes, the Rites of Spring used the music for personal introspection and emotional release, leading their sound to be dubbed emocore. Signed to Ian MacKaye's Dischord label, the band released a self-titled debut in 1985 and the EP All Through a Life in 1987 before breaking up. Vocalist Guy Picciotto subsequently joined MacKaye in Fugazi.
