I got my rio as a christmas present about 4 years ago and i still enjoy it and its still in good condition. I mainly use this mp3 player for when i am at the gym. there is enough storage to add my favorite workout songs and its light weight and durable.
It great for someone looking to find a small, affordable mp3 that they can use while working out indoors or outdoors. also if you are just looking for a MP3 players that can store your favorite songs while out and about. Good buyWas this review helpful? Yes - NoProblems - Don't buy

I have bought two of these devices, and both have failed. They just stop working. Customer service is a disaster. It took me three days and conversations with three people for them to agree to replace one of my non-working players. Then, I got a call from a fourth person saying they had to charge me. Two other people didn't return my calls over two days, and in the end, it took me five days, conversations with six people, and a total of two hours to get the problem resolved, and even then, I still have to pay to get them to fix their non-working product. Avoid this company as poor product reliability combined with unhelpful time-consuming customer service is a disaster.

The Rio is a great mp3 player, i use it all the time and the sound quality is great. it is easy to use, i have not had any trouble putting songs onto the player. the only problem that i have faced is the batteries. i am always having to change the batteries, they do not last long in this player. this would be the perfect mp3 player if it were not for the batteries always running out.

I purchased the RIO from Costco; largely due to the reviews on this site, which I use often before making any decisions on electronics purchases. Thanks for everyone's time and attention to detail. I paid $99.00 plus tax.
Now for my review.
I think that this is a great MP3 player for the money and what I use it for.
I've looked at all the others that are highly rated - a lot more functionality but also a lot bigger price. I purchased this for one reason.... To use as I do weight training or cardio in the gym. Though the strap and case are a bit clumsy, that really does not bother me much. I am not one for lots of addons. I simply place the RIO in my pocket or any place that is convenient on the bike or treadmill. It works out well. The sound quality is money!
I do not even use the radio as it simply is poor and I do not need it anway.
The batteries can be expensive but I am planning on buying rechargeable AAAs -- usually about $9.99 for two and a charger to solve that problem. Frankly, from an environmental perspective, cost, and convenience perspective - rechargeable is really the way to go on everything.
So, I have has this for three weeks and love it. However, I have not tried the tech support....again, after reading the comments on this site..I feel I am at it alone on tech support.

Pros: Great Sound, Easy Software, Competent Support
Cons: Broke two of them, they replaced them
I think it is the best one to have. It's tiny and plays for 20 hours on one AAA. I put a 256 in it and it goes almost seven hours.I am afraid to drop this third one, I don't know how many returns they will give me. It comes with a full year warranty. It's a good thing!

Is very compact has 128 mb which is expandable. Easy to navigate and easy to upload songs. Very sporty I use it a lot since I like to work out so it doesn't really get in the way and it's so light you don't really feel it at all.

This thing is great! I use it for my commute and it can sustain the drop on the floor with no problem. I only wish it had a regardable plug for the bat. Other than that buy this thing it's worth every peny.

It seems that Rio puts out some nice little gadgets, but forget it when you need their help. Email, phone, it doesn't matter. I challenge you to get them to respond. If something goes wrong or breaks, you're stuck.

This MP3 Player is good overall, except for the support which is an atrocious atrocity--in fact, Taco Bell has far better customer service, and much better food. If it is functional, the electrical signals sent to your brain make you like it; if it breaks, you may as well use it as a pricey doorstop. If all else fails, its unusual oblong shape is quite aerodynamic. Caveat Emptor.

I recieved this MP3 for a christmas present and have used it constantly since then. The only problems that I have with this MP3 is the amount of money that I put into batteries, Im always running to the store to get more. Also the plastic holder is getting a little loose and I wonder when the MP3 is going to fall out. The Sound is great, the features are awesome except for the radio but i rarely listen to that.. Everything is good and I know if i went with a conventional CD player and CDs I would have paid much more than what I did.

Purchased a Rio player and it started to malfunction. It is still in warrenty, I tried every way to have Rio fix it. I tried to get a return authorization. They do not respond via web site, email or phone. It is still broken and useless waste of money. I will never buy a Rio again.
