    256 Rio - Excellent choice.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 25, 2003 | 49 out of 52 found this Rio Cali 256 review helpful

Pros: Size of a pager and has an FM Tuner, lockable buttons

Cons: The belt clip interferes with the headphone jack

This was a good buy. Holds over 50 songs, with ability to upgrade with additional cards. The ability to use the FM tuner is nice as well. The compact design is small enough for any pocket and I keep mine stowed in my inside jacket pocket. Another ...good feature is the ability to lock out the buttons, so that you don't accidently turn it off or skip tracks accidently. Included software is extremely easy to use and downloading times are quick as well. Read more Less

    Excellent bang for the buck...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 4, 2004 | 9 out of 10 found this Rio Cali 256 review helpful

Pros: Rugged, takes a beating, has SD card expansion port, strong radio reception

    Cons: the color

I've used mine to inline skate, and it's taken some pretty hard falls that even I've had difficulty getting up from... I'm fully impressed with this player, and can honestly say it's the best I've had yet. I do wish they had a... color other than green though - the 128 is yellow, and I'd rather that color than puke green... Oh well. Read more Less

    great player poor buttons

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 10, 2004 | 5 out of 6 found this Rio Cali 256 review helpful

Pros: everything is great, it plays with excellent sound and great durability.

Cons: the forward backward pause stop and play buttons can be a pain, they don't always work right

The rio cali sprot 256 mb is a great player. the music is great and durability too. Tho the main control buttons don't work that well but, it's still a great player. It can hold up to about 50 song , it depends on the size of the song. usuall...y each song takes 2 or 3 mb's. Mine came with two types of headphones, the self roller is no good, it doesn't work. If your looking for a really good rio cali sport 256mb try Costco wholesale- www.costco.com.Its really cheap there. I would recommend the IRivers, they are a bit better and about the same price (where i bought mine, costco, tho every store costco doesnt sell it). Read more Less

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 24, 2005 | 3 out of 3 found this Rio Cali 256 review helpful

    Pros: EVERYTHING

    Cons: nothin really

LOVE the features that are on this MP3 player.....I take it EVERYWHERE with me. I can listen to it in the car when someone plays a song i dont like, I can listen to it on the bus to school...everywhere..the FM radio comes in handy too...great recepti...on standing still..and in a car..not on buses..I always keep a little memory free on mine. GREAT buy..makes a perfect gift for any music freak! Battery life is LONG if you use it sparingly. Amazing what an AAA battery can do for this MP3 player....especially since its got a backlight. Right now I hold 131 tracks of music. Excellent to be able to have an expandable memory card built in. This MP3 player is PERFECT for long trips. Read more Less

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 15, 2006 | 2 out of 2 found this Rio Cali 256 review helpful

    Pros: FM radio Great Software

    Cons: Audio Level

This thing droppped 100 times! No problems, but you have to admit built in FM radio, SD card means UNLIMITED sounds. Online there is rio alternative a BETTER and FREE interface...and for the price. Dont believe the hype. Yes, IPOD is louder, but... guess what I do not need the extra 250 because I like to THROW my money away. RIO was there in the start with MP3 players. Back in like 1998 I had a rio diamond. Great little mp3 player

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 9, 2004 | 2 out of 2 found this Rio Cali 256 review helpful

Pros: Size, weight, ease of use, durability

Cons: None that I can see

Bought this mp3 player to run with. I run marathons and log in a lot of weekly miles on the road so it gets a little boring at times. This little toy certainly helps! Sound quality is very good, I use a set of Nike sport headphones so have not used e...ither one of the earbuds that came with the player yet. The armband and case are decent and allow easy access to controls. The controls are also easy to use even with gloves on, and I have had no problems adjusting the volume or using the Rio Stick to skip through songs even at full running speed. Haven't even needed to use the lockout button for running, no problems at all. The only time I have used the lockout button is when I used the player when mountain biking, in which case I just turned it on and locked it and stuffed it into my backpack and rode. Have used player a few times in sub 20 degree weather already without any problems, although it does seem that the battery runs out a bit quicker at those temperatures. The software provided was relatively easy to use but the instructions that came with the player stunk. I went online to the Rio site a few times to look up information. Once set up on my computer file transfers have been no problem at all.As a distance runner who often runs for hours at a time I quickly found out that the 256mb memory was not enough for me and went out and purchased a 512mb SD memory card. With the new card I have plenty of space for enough songs to get me through my training runs. And with the Rio Music Manager software on my computer it is very easy to change songs whenever I want. The player is so light that I hardly even notice it's there. One of the most annoying things I have found in using these type of devices for running is the wire from the headphones often gets caught either around the unit or around my arm and inadvertently tugs at the earbuds/headphones. After toying around with several ways to solve this issue without avail I finaly went out and purchased a set of neckband headphones with rear cable exit (Nike). This has solved the problem as the wire comes off the back and never gets in the way and I would recommend it for anyone having this problem.Overall, a great product and appropriate for anyone wanting an mp3 player to workout or play rough with! Great for gym

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 5, 2004 | 2 out of 2 found this Rio Cali 256 review helpful

    Pros: Small, upgradable memory

Cons: battery life , FM radio

Great MP3 player. I upgraded the memory with another 512mb, so I have 750 total. I should be able to get atleast 250 songs on it. It seems the battery life is shorter since I have upgraded though. I use it in the gym so it gets banged around pret...ty good from time to time. I have never had any problems with it at all. I could not get it to work with the windows version of iTunes. There is a patch for the mac version, but not the windows version. The FM radio just plain sucks! Read more Less
