Synopsis: Ride the High Country (1962)

Two grizzled cowhands reminisce about their lively pasts as they travel across dangerous country with a gold shipment they were hired to protect. This is often considered to be Peckinpah's finest film, and is typical of post-classical westerns in terms of its elegiac tone. AKA: "Guns in the Afternoon."

    I mean, this is one of those pictures everyone raves about; it's even in the National Film Registry, yet as of this writing it's only available on video, and pan-and-scan video at that. Even there this widescreen classic is wonderful, but it should g...et a proper release. Read more Less
