Univers Zero is back

Finally one more release from the masters of obscure chamber music. For decades drummer/percussionist Daniel Denis kept musical integrity sharp with very few but strong releases. Highly influeced by Christian Vander's Magma, UZ developed its own somb...er style, depending less on rock instruments and more on classical oriented compositions. UZ music has been described as the best soundtrack for H.P. Lovecraft work. With RHYTHMIX, Denis keeps the heart of UZ intact (oboe player Michel berkmans, clarinetist Dirk Descheemaeker and himself) but also adds various guest classical instrumentalists to the line-up. The sound is almost as dark as the past releases, but not as much as UZ masterpiece, "1313". There is no doubt that this is a must release for all Univers Zero fans, as well as to any avant-garde/progressive listener. The album, one should remind, is completely instrumental, just like all their other recordings. Read more Less
