Rev. Clay Evans was born June 23, 1925, in Brownsville, TN; ordained as a Baptist minister a quarter century later, he went on to found the Fellowship Baptist Church in Chicago, and between 1971 and 1976 served as the founding National Board Chairman of Operation PUSH. A featured soloist on a number of albums by the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church choir, Evans also issued an impressive number of solo recordings on labels including Savoy and Jewel.
