Cons: Needed to explore subject more indepth

Fine acting, thought-provoking and beautifully filmed. I wish this was on DVD. Every time I watch it, I come away with something new. Not too many movies can do that.

I fell in love with this film when I saw it in 1980, and loved it so much I helped make it a success at the theatre I was working at by announcing the fact that the film was being "dumped" by the distributor because they couldn't figure out how to ad...vertise it (true), and asking people to talk about it with friends. Word of mouth made it a success, and it played for months at our theatre, while being dropped by others after only a week or two. A remarkable cast, with stellar performances by Burstyn, Le Galliene, and Farnsworth in particular. One of the most riveting and yet soothing and warm films I've ever watched. Read more Less

I would like to say that Ellen Bursten played her most memorable role in my oppinion. I remember seeing the movie when it was released and it has stuck with me all these years. The story line was gripping and held your attention throughout the entir...e movie. Very touching and intriguing. Your heart is so full of love and even wonder after veiwing and it leaves questions in our minds about spirituality and miracles of the heart and soul. VERY DEEP!! Read more Less

HOW LONG MUST WE WAIT!

Pros: Extremly thought provoking and well acted

Cons: No DVD or even on the horizon

What the heck is going on with this movie? Its a perfect candidate for DVD(actually even HD). Covers all realms of human emotion. Maybe Criterion will get a hold of this and at least clean it up with extras for a "standard" DVD. In a nut s...hell, the story swells around a woman who seems to have developed miraculous healing powers(Biblical like), and the problems that arise from that. Encompasses the viewer with many pondering thoughts. Bitterness is drawn out with a rare style that is not commonly seen in films. A definite watch. Somebodys holding this DVD release up. probably the best of movie of its time to deal with the afterlife and love andthe human spirit. no matter what one's belief on the afterlife the moving performance by ellen burstyn in the leadrole might even compel an atheist tobelieve in the light ...when people crossover. this is a movie that willkeep one asking more questions aboutthe afterlife as does the present daywhen dreams may come. this movie is amust for anyone who believes in the afterlife,love and the power of the light from a supreme,kind and lovingbeing.
