Seth - See all Seth's reviews 2 of 2 Yahoo! Users found this Remixed [2003 Arista] review helpful for those of you who are mclachlan fans, these remixes will sound quite different from the original songs. they generally have a very deep trancey (rave/club) sound to them. this cd is a collection of wonderful and sometimes very hard to find remixes created by some very talented and world famous artists.
if you like trance, or you like haunting, dark music with beautiful vocals, i highly recommend this album. if you are strictly a fan of mclachlan and things more in the pop, folk, or lilith fair genres, then perhaps this might not be the cd for you. ...

Pro Reviews: Remixed [2003 Arista]
| EXPERT RATING: From AMG Reviews Certainly not the style of music McLachlan is known for, but Remixed is an album that will reach a new audience demographic that can at the very least appreciate her gorgeous voice, while serving as a continuing showcase for popular remixers and DJs now playing at a club near you. Once McLachlan's vocals are introduced to these generic trance-dance pieces, there's no mistaking what songs they are from, since verse and chorus are left mostly intact, perhaps due in part to senior producer Pierre Marchand (rare for a single person to take a producer's credit for a remix album with multiple contributors). Each track is a polished, extended, club-ready standout, but this means of course that many of them cancel each other out when listening to the entire album at once. McLachlan's chops may not have as much range as Madonna's or certainly Björk's, but the DJs work hard to give more dynamics to her ethereal, waif-like voice, lifted from four different albums' worth of material. In this respect, her peers may have more longevity in the club/dance genre, but respect is due for a passable and brave leap into another category. Over the months and years ahead, this album might not last as well, but it sparkles in its own right, and is worth the price. - Keir Langley, All Music Guide |
