    OK so I exaggerate.
    Not by much though.
    But this is the ultimate pro_America film.
    It's the quintessential "Man Made Movie"
    A second amendment nuts dream film.

    I have seen this movie several times. Every tiem I see it I still like it. I don't think it is full of propaganda, it is just a movie- about something that could happen. It is on my WAY COOL list.

    Lost Innocence

    I found myself thinking about this movie. Fear or propanganda was not something that I zeroed in when watching it; although some would say it was there. Rather, for me it was the losing of innocence. The young kids for months as we saw on the screen..., lost their's. They became the hunted, they killed, they survived, they learned to separate emotion and put it aside; having seen nothing but death. They put it aside again when having to kill someone whom they were growing up with all of there lives because he had betayed them by revealing there place of hiding. The young man that they killed didn't even beg for his life, seeming to know the rules of war and betrayal. You watched the kids become numb, and the last two Jed and Matt, became worn out. They didn't even seem to mind going back into town. They too it seemed died in the end. Good movie to analyze as usual when you watch a movie with Patrick Swayze in it.     I also have seen this movie a hundred times. I'll tell you why I liked it. Yes, I agree that it propagated fears of the Cold War. However, I think it's deeper than that. It reveals our own insecurities at the time and that we really were not that mu...ch different from "them". I recommend this film. Read more Less

    I have seen "Red Dawn" about 30 times, I own it, and even have discussed in as the subject for a college paper. So why don't I like it? It represents a propaganda that promotes paranoia and fear. These sort of films only perpetuated the Cold War. Th...e fact that rational human beings bought into this kind of film almost sickens me. The only redeeming value of this film was near the end when Col. Bella saw Jed carrying off a mortally wounded Matt and cursed to God. If this scene was never placed in, there would have never been any indication given that the invading armies were even emotional human beings (aside from the brief scene after the bomb blows up outside the US-Russian friendship center). Many of the scenes seem over-dramatic and lacked any sense. I could go on, but what would be the point? I think I got my message across. Read more Less

    The greatest war movie of the 80's. Best US vs. USSR (better than rocky 4, anything). Swayze and Sheen are great worriors. Buy it! you wont regret it!

    Red Dawn represents the ultimate in all-American patrotism and the pride of our great, free country.As a slightly paronoid anti-government person who spends his time thinking of conspirousy theories, I watch the movie at least once a month, and thin...k of what it would be like for them, hiding from the red army up in the mountains.I really enjoyed all of the awesome action, and watched the damage that partisons can do.I highly reccomend it for both action fans and military enthusiestes Read more Less
