Synopsis: Real Women Have Curves (2002)
Synopis: Ana, a first generation Mexican American teenager living in East Los Angeles, has just graduated from high school. Because she is a talented writer, a caring teacher urges her to apply to college. Ana secretly is excited about the possibility, but her overbearing and hypercritical mother Carmen insists that it is time for her to help provide for the family by working in her sister's sewing factory. When a crisis arises at the factory, it seems as if Ana's fate is unhappily sealed, but her indomitable will to reach beyond a sweatshop life eventually leads her to burst, defiant and resplendent, through every restriction on her life.Yahoo! Cliched and nonsensical

Cons: To many to list here
This movie was a barrage of cliches and half-truths. The protagonist wants to go to college and is nervous about getting in, even though senior year is already over (this all would have been decided months earlier). Her mama doesn't want her to go to school at all, probably making her one the only immigrant in the history of the country that moved to this country to ensure her children couldn't take advantage of its opportunities. The whole body image issue is presented as a feel-good, Oprahesque sub-plot. ...
