Ray Thomas is bestknown as a founding member of the Moody Blues and the group's resident flutist as well as a singer and songwriter within the band. Born in Stourport on Severn, he attended the Paget Road Secondary Modern School and seemed destined for a life working in factories, which is what he did early in his adult life, having qualified as an industrial toolmaker.
