    A true musical Phenomenon-Anita Baker

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 24, 2008 | 1 out of 1 found this Rapture review helpful

Pros: Amazing Voice, Amazing Production, Amazing Songs

Cons: Its addictive-I listen to it everyday-22 years later

Anita Baker is truly an amazing artist. She has complete control over her music and just look what she has ended up producing- a classic album of great love songs. From sweet Love to Watch Your Step. There is beauty in each and every song.

On her best of Album they included every song from this album except 'Been So Long' and 'Watch Your Step'. 'Been So Long' is a classic and one of my favourites - witten and composed by Anita Baker. Its strange because she hasn't made many albums but the impact she has had on the music business has been phenomenol. Just look at Mary J Blige, Toni Braxton, Faith Evans, Kanye West, Jill Scott. The list goes on. Clearly, when God made musical artists, he made Anita Baker a special case -Thank you.

    MegaGem! Enraptured By Her Essence

    Pros: Love Every Damn Song

Cons: None! Are U Kidding Me?

Mizz Anita's second album "Rapture" was the focal point of her career. Being true to her jazz influence as well as her gospel roots, she honed and crafted a masterpiece that was so moving, you could not help but be "caught up". In the time that hip hop was surging through radio, Mizz Anita stuck to her guns. While Teddy Riley was making New Jack Swing, and Keith Sweat trying to be a funketeer, Mizz Baker's soft quiet storm approach garnered her a huge following. From "Sweet Love" to "Better Watch Your Step", she showcased that she can hang with the best of them. Percluding to the hot talents of super producer Michael Powell, he created a smolder, scorching album full of love, betrayal and the sweetest innocence of love. With the backing prowess of Bunny Hull, Vesta Williams, Alex Brown, Lynn Davis, Phillip Ingram, Darryl Phinnessee, Natalie Jackson & Jim Gilstrap, she crafted a vocal backdrop so sweet, you can't deny anything. Being true to her nature had garnered her success throughout her entire 7 year career with Elektra. Her range ain't powerful, but her songs are powerful enough. If you love mature music with a sensual inflected vibe, then this is it for you.

Pros: Her voice, one of the greatest of all time.

    Cons: there isn't more!!!!!

Anita's music is the Rolls-Royce of the industry. The quality of this album, like the others she has made is absolutly flawless. You have never heard anything quite like this. Anita Baker is one of the most amazing artists of all time in my opinion.

3/11/2000 is a day I'll never forget. On that day, I found RAPTURE. Honestly, one of the most orgasmic collections of sounds I've ever heard in my life. There isn't a song on this album that isn't beautiful.

    Lovely!

This album is off the hook. Anita Baker's voice is sultry and smooth. Her alto range is compared to none.

I believe Anita Baker is the most soulful songstress ever. Her albums not only have the ability to touch a part of everyone but it gives an undeniable volt of electricity to all of its true listeners. This has not only helped me in my young teenage years but paved a way to me becoming a woman in rapture as well. Thank you Anita for making life just a little easier. I miss you.

    A Voice of Velvet

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 26, 2001 | 1 out of 1 found this Rapture review helpful

I grew up with the sounds of Ms. Baker, but I have just recently discovered what an amazing artist she truly is. She pioneered the way for the newer female stars (Toni Braxton, Monica, etc.) by showing the sensuality of a rich lower female voice. Rapture is an outstanding example of her amazing talent. I went to one of her concerts as a child. I just wish I had the opportunity now, because I feel I could truly appreciate her artistry at this stage in my life.

The work that made her a star!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 20, 1999 | 1 out of 1 found this Rapture review helpful

Anita Baker is the songstress of love, and I enjoy her work tremendously. She is the driving force behind the love songs. Baker's voice is so powerful that it brought out feelings in me that I did not even know were there. I have never gotten the opportunity to see her in person, but I think when I do it will be a time to remember!!!
