Randall Thompson
Thompson was educated at Harvard, U. of Rochester and U. of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed a prestigious career, teaching at many fine universities and gathering awards too numerous to mention. He is remembered for his choral compositions, all written for commission or special event. His work is harmonically diatonic and generally serious and sacred, and his sense of language helped to create music that fit the texts in a natural way.
