    Yeah, right, its King Lear set in Japan. There's a Shakespearean resonance to the film, but it stands on its own. Kurosawa's use of color is astounding, not only because he was almost blind, but in SEVEN SAMURAI he showed how great black & white can... be. The battle sequence in the middle of the film, with music instead of dialogue or sound, is Kurosawa's best since the battle in the rain at the end of SEVEN SAMURAI. And a memorable end for the film's villainess. Read more Less
