Pro Reviews: Rampe Rampe

  • All Music Guide

A compilation of the band's longer recordings, none of which were featured on Edsel's other Kaleidoscope collection A Beacon from Mars. All three -- "Beacon From Mars" and "Taxim" from A Beacon from Mars and "Seven-Ate Sweet" from Incredible Kaleidoscope -- are virtuoso displays. Also included are two other stray tracks, "Greenwood Sidee" (from Beacon) and the Middle Eastern instrumental B-side "Rampe Rampe." This collection (minus "Taxim") has been combined with Edsel's other Kaleidoscope compilation, A Beacon from Mars, on one CD, called Blues From Baghdad: The Very Best of Kaleidoscope.
