...that this movie is the true best picture of 1980.The Academy are retarded degenerates for giving the oscar to Ordinary People over this masterpiece.Anyway, crisp direction, perfect editing and brillant acting by all make this a must see.
Shot in glorious black and white, this film is the height of the talents of Scorsese, De Niro and all involved. A truly staggering story of a man's demise as he let's jealousy and paranoia turn his world upside down. I could go on for hours but not enough space...
This is probably the best male performance in
film history. DeNiro will leave you speachless with
his second Academy Award winning role. Shot in
hypnotic black and white, this is also Martin Scorsese's
greatest direction to date.
One of the best movies ever
made.
This was by far the best film of the 80's and
will go down in the history books as one of the best
films of all time. Like most De Niro and Scorsese
films. De Niro easily won the Oscar for best actor for
his performance in this film. This is the best boxing
film ever made. Jake Vs Rocky. No contest.
But I
would like to know why De Niro never won the Oscar for
his performances in Taxi Driver, The Deerhunter, Cape
Fear, Heat and Casino.
He is by far the best actor
out there.
Most probably De Niro's crowning moment as an
actor - an unbelieveable performance many would
consider one of the all time greatest roles.
The
harshness and often brutal life of middle weight champion
is brought to chilling life by De Niro - it is even
somewhat disturbing to see De Niro having gained 50 pounds
to play the eventual bum that La Motta becomes...but
it all goes towards an outstanding performance and a
well deserved Oscar.
Again, Scorcese's
direction is inch-perfect. The B&W photography further
emphasises that stark harshness and hardship of La Motta's
life and the people around him. The fight scenes are
extrodinary, only made so much more painful and realistic
through the superb editing and slow motion.
The
supporting cast is only top-notch, Joe Pesci standing out in
particular. No disputes what-so-ever that this is the best
film of the 1980's...
