    This isn't hip-hop, it's pathetic.

Pros: R.Kelly is a great artist, Ashanti is OK, she looks good though

Cons: Everything about the album, Ja Rule, and "The Inc."

Ever since that Ja Rule VS. 50 Cent beef that occured 2003, Murder Inc. or now "The Inc." has never been the same. Once the beef came I liked 50 Cent, but still felt cool about Ja. I didn't understand why 50 had a beef with him. He stat...ed that Ja Rule was in a comapny named Murder Inc. and when you have a name like that you needed to portray a certain image. I understood his opinion that he wasn't portraying the certain image he wished to portray. That got me thinking. Then the Murder Inc. VS.Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit started. During this beef I started to agree with most of the opinions of the Shady crew. These are the main reasons that got me with the Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit crew. 1st of all and the most critical was what Ja said about Eminem's daughter Hailie. I'm not sure if I should say it here, search "Hailie's Revenge" and see the lyrics, its at the beginning. What he said was so low, how could you get to that level. This is hip-hop, not some war. You don't have to mention someones child in a freestyle, that is disturbing. From that point on I was with Shady. 2nd Ja and his crew stabbed 50 Cent, and I think that's messed up. 3rd Busta Rhymes joined the beef as well because Ja Rule just talked bout him in a freestyle with the "I Made You Look" beat by Nas. Now jsut a week ago on BET i saw an interview with him. They asked him about the beef. About the Shady crew and Busta Rhymes. He claimed that he was "suprised" Busta Ryhmes would go agaisnt him and diss him. Suprised? YOUR THE ONE WHO TALKED ABOUT HIM IN THE 1ST PLACE! Busta claimed about the freestyle around 2003, and Ja said this 2004. So you can simply see that Ja is lying. I love hip-hop but when you have someone doing this, I think it's wrong. This album is just him coming out and attracting the female audiences. Nothing is wrong with that, but this is a man who has children, and talks about someone elses?! Ja Ruleis crumbling. Irv Gotti is a bad influence too. After 50 complained about the Murder Inc. label, he changes the name to "The INC." These are strictly my opinions. If you look at it all it fits together like a puzzle. Oh and Ja Rule also seems to immatate 2pac. There will never be a another 2pac. This album is supposed to be hip-hop? Its by a person who disses children, and twists everything around so it goes his way. I'm sorry but Ja Rule has had his time, and it's clearly over. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: R.U.L.E.

  • All Music Guide

R.U.L.E. doesn't have much going for it, but it does include a few noteworthy songs: the album's lead single, "Wonderful," an R. Kelly showcase that also boasts an Ashanti feature; the album's street single, "New York," a Cool Dre production with a popgangsta edge and strong raps from Fat Joe and Jadakiss; and lastly, "Life Goes On," a 2Pacstyle ballad highlighted by features for Trick Daddy and Inc inhouse producer Chink Santana. The album's remaining 60 minutes consist of standardissue Ja Rule album filler: dreary pseudoautobiographical raps that paint a conflicted portrait of Ja Rule, the paranoid poprap gangsta who believes himself to be a street martyr. Still, even if Ja Rule as an artist seems increasingly inauthentic with each passing album release, "Wonderful" is R.U.L.E.'s saving grace, playing like a trademark R. Kelly song, albeit one featuring Ja Rule and Ashanti.

Biography

Ja Rule

As the flagship artist for producer Irv Gotti's Def Jam-affiliated Murder Inc. label, Ja Rule became the rap industry's most commercially successful artist during the early 2000s, working closely with the hitmaker and his stable of talent. Ja initially won over a sizable following with Venni Vetti Vecci (1999), his rather hardcore debut album modeled largely after the s... Read more
