    good cd, not too "ambitious".

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 30, 2002

if read somewhere that this album was too ambitious. hell no! maybe one song, but not the whole thing. lonely soul is the most ambitious song on the cd. i really did enjoy it. the most out of place song has to be nursery rhyme. get the geetars out of here! overall shadow did a good job.

    good. excellent. brilliant. superb. etc

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 9, 2000

Unkle have just been added to my favorite artists list, among others including radiohead and the verve both of which feature in this incredible album, thom yorke in the emotional rabbit in your headlights and richard ashcroft in the equally emotional lonely soul. psyence fiction takes you on a ride through rap, hip, indie, rock... its this blend of so many styles that makes this one of the best albums ever (yes.. EVER). If you have a wide ranging musical taste like myself you will LOVE this album and enjoy every second of it. buy it now !! visit http://www.21337.com for a more indepth review and analysis of the album. go on, get to the shop your wasting time!

    This Album is utterly amazing

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 3, 2000

One of the most definitive tracks on this album is surley 'Lonely Soul'. It's mix of strings and beat sound unorthadox. However the boys pull it off nicely with amazing results. Another astonishing track is 'Rabbit In Your Headlights' With Tom Yorke, disturbing but beautiful is the only way to discribe this gem. A message to UNKLE... Please Give Us More!!!

    FANTASTIC

Its not often that an album can truly be described as groundbreaking, but anyone else that has heard it and tried to describe it to anyone else will realise it is the only real word to be used (i find hip-hip/dance/rock orientated funk with uplifting moments, smattered with brilliance, all tied up in a beautifully complete package , a little too much for most people to come to grips with) FULL MARKS

    Did James Lavelle fuck up?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 15, 2000

Grand projects have a history of falling on their arses. The
Millenium Dome, Trip Hawkin's '3DO', and Star Wars Episode 1 all built up expectations higher than ever before, only to become an legendary embarrassment.
When James Lavelle claims he'll gather 40 of the world's most skilled musicians to make the greatest album in the history of mankind, the industry starts to worry. Even from the fan's point of view, to see DJ Shadow publicly disgrace himself would have been heart-breaking.
Imagine the rapture when, after four years, we found that Lavelle had well and truly come up with the goods. Not only had he escaped humiliation in the eyes of the elite, but he'd created a legendary album which affect its listeners permanently.

It rapidly sounds like somebody's Desert Island Discs selection, until you remeber that none of this existed pre-UNKLE...
As the listener is drawn into Psyence Fiction's brutal soundscape, the tracks each become masterpieces in their own right. Richard Ashcroft involves us in his train of thought with the grandiose 'Lonely Soul' [recorded before Shadow put the Verve back together :) ]; Badly Drawn Boy undergoes a musical change of direction. He sends us spiralling through a meat tenderiser of three drumkits with insane guitars in Nursery Rhyme. Even the secret track is a work of art...
Overall, the impression is of heavenly chaos. Perhaps a subliminal consequence of Shadow's compulsive jilted beats, perhaps just an inevitability after you involve forty free-thinking artists in an album.
It's hard to evalute chaos, buy this album nonetheless.

    Psyence Phact

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 18, 1999

It's here, it's finally here. Three years of recording in the making and finally it's out. 'Bout fuckin' time too, but what can I say but the obvious.... ....what an album. My gob has been smacked and my flabber has been well and truely gasted. Dj Shadow is now officially the musical genius of the world.
Not an album to stick on for a party but an album that is definatly able for a few quiet spliffs in a comfortable chair with some friends. It has some of the best collaberations I've seen in a long time, taking vocal talants from alt-rocker Thom Yorke, to old-skool hip-hop in the form of Beastie Boy, Mike D. With songs like that of Unreal, thumping drum loops, worthy of the dirtiest hip-hop, and melodies that touch the soul in ways I still can't percieve.
This album is a masterpiece and everyone should have two copies of it. One for listening to, and the other to frame and hang on your wall. Dj Shadow, we salute you....

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 3, 1999

Everything about UNKLE rocks. Big, fat beats, smooth lyrics, assists from Verve, Beasties, Radiohead... Check out a remix they do of a Jon Spencer Blues Explosion song, too. It's different- if you like Portishead, Bjork, DJ Shadow you'll dig this. My new favorite CD!

Hey mom, textured music like this ROCKS

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 1, 1999

An awesome compilation; a 50's sci-fi journey concept album; moody and dramatic.
This is the future of music, not the 3.5 minute pop up your ass radio crap.

    Hats off to the crew!

Try something new, you might just like it.
