Real genius
This album is a classic. Manu Chao shows a few different styles and languages and has made some very good songs here. I cannot imagine anybody not liking at least part of this album. It is very original, very addictive and very well done.

Manu Chao`s music is one of the last examples of true, honest, unique musical lyrism out on the modern pop-rock scene. `Esperanza` entered my personal and very private all time list of best albums the moment I heard it. So many colours in this music..even better than `Clandestino` allthough one masterpiece can`t be compared to another that easy...So lucky to have all those old albums of Mano Negra and now this Manu`s solo series of unprecedented works of art...

Before I walked into the Borders store and heard a little bit of the cd, I knew nothing about this artist. I personally think it's great. I have to listen to clandestino now.

you have to listen to it a few times to distinguish it from clandestino. he often uses same patterns, jingles etc. so it almost sounds like a copy at times.
in overall i prefer clandestino, which i would rate 4 stars, so i have to give this one 3 stars. i just feel there are more weak points on this album, whereas clandestino was fully recommendable. but still this record has some excellent tunes: of course "me gustas tu", and the great jazzy "trapped by love", as well as that one song including this lines "hey bobby marley..."
and manu chao is definitly a great artist!

Manuel returns on this album with the same creativity and passion as the first...and it's a sure winner. With its swirling beats and infectious rhythms, this album, like the last, sends a shot right into the boogie-woogie module of the brain. Highly recommended.

Excelente. Muy distinto y a la vez tan similar a Clandestino. Completamente recomendable.

This is a really good latin CD. Good rythme, good melody. I suggest the n°4 and n°6. Sometimes slow, sometimes fast, really interesting.
