
Though Proof first rose to national prominance as a part of the D-12 posse, he'd actually been quite successful on his own prior to Eminem's breakthrough in the early 2000s. Most notably, he won ~The Source's 1999 Unsigned Hype award and came close to winning the 1998 Blaze Battle. In 2001, his profile soared with the release of Devil's Night, D-12's debut album for Interscope, and its heavily aired radio hit, "Purple Pills." The following year, Proof collaborated with Dogmatic for the Promatic album and joined Eminem's ~Anger Management tour in support of the release.
