An American engineer in a Latin American country is captured by anti-government forces. When the rebels learn his identity they demand $3 million for his safe return. However, his U.S. employer is on the verge of insolvency and will not provide the ransom. Peter's wife Alice is forced to deal with the matter on her own. She retains the services of freelance professional hostage negotiator Terry Thorne. With the help of a fellow negotiator, Dino, and a trio of highly trained mercenaries, Terry mounts a bold operation to rescue Peter that could as easily result in disaster as in triumph.

    Proof Of Professionals

I really enjoyed the movie Proof Of Life. I've been a fan of Russell Crowe and Meg Ryan for as long as I can remember, and I usually trust their judgement to pick films that have something going on for them. And this movie definitely did.Despite what... many people think, I believe that Meg Ryan can handle dramatic roles as well as comedic ones. She did a great job showing how hard the entire hostage situation was, and feeling torn between whether or not she should give into the feelings she has for Thorne. She's simply a natural.Crowe is great, as always, and it's nice to hear him speak in his real accent again. It does sound quite pretty, the Aussie accent. I also enjoyed how the story kept moving back and forth between David Morse's character and the progress of Crowe and Ryan's "research". It showed how different the two worlds actually were and it made the depressing situation of the hostage very real. The movie could have been a little shorter, maybe by about 10 or 15 minutes, it wouldn't have lost anything. But I was entertained the entire time, and that's what movie watching is all about, I believe. Also, look out for a great performance by underrated actor David Caruso. Read more Less

OK!! Russle is soo cool in this movie, I could listen to the Aussie talk for hours! This movie is really good and the characters are beleiveable. I don't like Meg at all, so I was wishing the whole time someone else would've play her character. T...he man who always had the Bible was hella cool and funny. I also liked the red haired friend of Russle.Russle, who played a man named Terry, did a great job in his role! I loved the part when he was in his black wife beater...yummy Aussie, yummy! ^.~ Read more Less
