Pros: Jamie Lee Curits, cult
Cons: Picture quality, sound
It is a sign of the times. The beginning of the 80s slasher flims,Prom Night. This movie takes place in present day (1980) where 15 yeas ago, where a group of kids playing in an abandon building, causes a little girl's death. The games they were playing went to far. She is pushed out a third story window to her death. The rest of the children made a pack saying never to discuss that tragic account again. Time passes, and they grow up thinking they got away with murder (no pun intended). One by one they are called by a prank caller saying Kill...Kill....kill. They think it just a joke. It is prom night and the killer is on the loose. The killings were good for its day. They seemed to be original for that time frame. I did not like a lot of dark scenes hindered me from seeing what was going on. The sound was not that great either. If you get the DVD and step the killings scenes you can see where a dummy was in place, or cords were placed for the spurting of the blood. Over all though it is a movie that deserves to bee seen at least once. In some cases it is a cult classic.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! IT IS VERY SCARY AND HAS A GREAT DISCO DANCE
PROM NIGHT FOREVER
SCARIEST MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!
Jamie Lee Curtis makes her best performance since Halloween. A very good and suspenceful movie that will make you wanna miss your prom. Buy it today!
Superficially, Prom Night looks as if it was made to cash in on the horror movie craze of the 80s created by Halloween. With close inspection that is shown to be untrue. This film was obviously a source of inspiration for Kevin WIlliamson when he wrote Scream, some of the scenes are very similar but this stands alone. The ending is slightly obvious but don't let it put you off.
I was very bored during the first hour of this film. But the last half hour finally gets some killing done. I say just rent this movie unless you just really really want to buy it.
This movie was so-so. It did have some good parts in it. And the ending was excellent. But what made me not like this movie to much is Leslie Neilson. How stupid to put him in this. He did have a good role in Creepshow but this went too far. Jamie Lee Curtis made this movie a classic. This was my 2nd favorite Jamie Lee Curtis movie with my first Terror Train. My 3rd would be The Fog. I won't go over that. My favorite part is the chase between the killer and the weenie of the movie Wendy. The soundtrack was great and the cast was good. But is still funny in parts. And by the way the janitor, well if you are a high school girl I would lock yourself in the locker room before james bond starts spying on you, if you know what I mean. The sequels don't follow the original but they are on the same track.
