Goldie, Goldie, Goldie!
"Private Benjamin" and Goldie Hawn are perfectly synonymous. This is the movie that was her high point in her distinguished career, and she made it a trademark as the ditzy spoiled brat who winds up in the army, but got a whole lot more than what she bargained for. Conditions are not perfect: she has to march in the rain, and faces the mean-tempered Captain Lewis (played effectively by Eileen Brennan). Then she finds romance with a French doctor (Armand Assante), but will she stay with him or remain in the army?
Anyway, this is Goldie's biggest hit, only she gets typecast more and more as cute Judy Benjamin-like ditzes in less successful films until "The First Wives Club", her more recent comeback.Was this review helpful? Yes - No
