This is real music...real lyrics...old style Prince at his finest!!

This is one of my favorites. Prince bridged a gap for me from rock to Funk/RB with this his self titled album. Tracks to check out "Bambi", "I Wanna Be Your Lover", "Sexy Dancer" and "I Feel For You". You are sure to like it!

This album has pretty good funk, but it isn't a classic. However the following songs would be classified by Prince fans as classics: I Wanna Be Your Lover, Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?, Sexy Dancer and I Feel For You. One song that should get a mention is 'Bambi.' Despite it's risique lyrics, the guitar riff make this track sound more modern than 70's. Oh, I forgot. Modern stars today can't play classy guitar riffs like that, can they?

prince proved he could write and sing on this album...the predecessor to dirty mind and controversy albums ...his critics doubted his talent..how could they when they only had to look back at this self entitled album....good songwriting,harmony,vocal
s and etc....he was a child genius at this time waiting to peak.....but as usual what they couldn't understand ....they will knock you for it...he was ahead of the critics and peers ..simply because he PROGRESSED to another level on the dirty mind and controversy albums but they couldn't see he was growing and experimenting....thats why he is the most versatile and diversified musician ever...this album has classic love songs that stand the test of time...check it out!!!!Was this review helpful? It was the beginning of the prince revolution. great funk beats . good voice. outstanding POLYMOOG sounds. more polymoog sound than gary numan. it was what i call the electronic expeirience. it features the hit " i wanna be your lover". is amust own buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
