If ya heard the last killah priest "view from massada" and was a little dissapointed you will definitely think this album "priesthood" is a step up from that. On "view from massada" I was expectin some wu-work on it but there wasnt any. Heavy menta...l had appearences from hell razah, 62nd assassin, john the baptist, 4th disciple, tru master, arabian knight, father lord (R.I.P. , and also to Too Poetic-Grym Reeper) gza, ins. deck, and had a wu feel through the whole thing. "view from massada" showed an obvious break, small or large from wu-tang showing no wu-tang appearances other than a very small affiliated group by the name of the maccabees from the rose family which killah priest has mentioned before and was showing a little bit of a push for and there was a few tracks produced by daddy rose too. Dontget me wrong Killah Priest always shows his lyrical talent and even on view from massada he showed some new song writing talent but i thought as a whole album he lacked direction and thought "oh man, no wu-tang, hes flowin but no wutang production is really hurtin the overall production of the album". Theres just really no connection from the production side to the artist side. And thats whats needed to make a good album, Connections. But Overall, I as a killah priest fan i enjoy view from massada. But waitin to get his new album "priesthood" i was hopin it had a little more too offer than view from massada more like "heavy mental" which i think is the most underated wutang album to date and most people and hip hop fans overall dont really feel or comprehend but "Priesthood" is a great album. It has great direction and killah priest has put more input into the songs on this album. The maccabees shine once again on this album and killah priest puts a lil' more question into the killah priest-wutang affiliation existence on songs like "blackball" and "royal priesthood". On these songs he talks about the industry and certain unnamed individuals not promoting his album and him not being cool with certain old friends of his. Does this mean a total breakoff from wutang??? i really hope not but it might look that way. it looks like killah priest has a few things to take care of as an mc and wasnt gettin that done with the wu-tang logo under his name and once again on this album there is no wu-tang appearences, wutang affiliate appearances, sunz of man appearances, and no wutang production. But this album is great and shows a great future for killah priest as a solo artist with no affiliations other than being a leader sorda nas like. I definitely recommend this album. Production is much better than view from massada, still has that wu-tang flavor with a touch of difference, and the lyrics and song writing show much potential and promise and i give all respect and love to killah priest who i am a huge fan of and judge by talent not by affiliation much like everybody who i listen too. So if your lookin for a wu-tang type album, youd really appreciate and enjoy this album and have a little confusion in the wondering wheres wutang? well while the group or affiliates might not be around him the sound definitely is so pick it up. KP comes correct on every single song, Im really feelin the Horseman track, the production on this blows away "view from Massada", def worth getting......one of the better LP's to come out in '01, but "Heavy Mental" is still his greatest work
