When she meets the standoffish Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth), they initially clash, but there may be something deeper behind their animosity. Firth (BRIDGET JONES' DIARY) sets the standard for period film heroes with his portrayal of Mr. Darcy, a character sure to make both minds and hearts race. The classic novel of manners, society, and love includes much of Austen's rich commentary on human nature, and features extensive, gorgeous location shooting in and around historic English country homes.

    Pros: This is a must see especially for English Literature buffs

    Cons: You wish Jane Astin would have written a part II to the story

    Once you have seen this version, all other movie versions pale. The characters were fabulously cast and wonderfully portrayed. This is definately a must see movie. I suggest that you read about the author and her work before seeing the movie. Onc...e you know Astin's history and read her works you will be awe struck. The movie is great for young readers interested in Literature. The long version of the movie flys by, you will want to continue to watch until the end. This movie made me a fan of Colin Firth. When I see his name in the credits of any movie, it is already a "must see" for me. He played a true romatic character and did it great, it got me to want to see more of his work and follow his carrer in movies. I would like to mention that all the characters in Pride and Prejidice were great. I own the VHS version of the series. Read more Less

    This is an excellent movie, as soon as I started watching,I was hooked, not just because I like to story, but it was well acted and the costumes and settings were real. I loved the fact that the story follows the book almost verbatim, and in most ca...se it actually does take the words right from the book. Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle were chemistry together. If they make Pemeberly into a movie, I do hope they will use them again. MUST SEE for Jane Austin fans. Read more Less
