3 yrs and still going
Pros: no problems after 3 yrs
Cons: shaft is too short, eats up line like crazy, won't shut off in emergency
i've got a 1 acre yard and trimming takes 2 times as long as the mowing. for the last 3 seasons i've been using the trimmer 2 hrs ever two weeks and it still runs without problems.
my complaints are that the shaft is just too short for using it for the amount of time i use it. it kills my back! plus on hilly areas, since it's a bump feed trimmer, it wastes line like you wouldn't believe. i got through 4-6 ft of line per session.
the biggest grip is there is NO WAY to shut down in an emergency. you have to hold the stop button for 3 seconds to shut it off.
i'm currently looking for a better trimmer, but for the $80 i spent 3 years ago it was worth the money. i'm pretty sure i could get another season or two out of it, but my back will hate me for it!Was this review helpful? Yes - NoGreat Product

I have had one for over 2 years now. never a problem! Starts great ! Runs great ! I always drain the fuel and let it idle until it runs out. THis is a good practive with any 2 stroke. For those who had trouble, learn how to mix gas correctly, becasue this is a great, light weight product ! I stumbled across this looking for a new head for it.

i have purchased both this trimmer and the blower and both have broken down numerous times. the cable also gets stuck and it is plain trash!! do not buy!!

Pros: cuts fine when it's working

This machine will only last about a year. I've had two problems. As I pull the trigger to give it more gas and rev up the engine (in preparation to begin cutting), it stalls and turns off easily. So it keeps dying. Now, after only one summer, the spring that recoils the pull start rope is broken. So the rope will not coil back into the housing . It's too expensive to fix. Don't waste your money on this cheap Weedeater Featherlite sst25. It's junk.

I have used the machine on two occasions. The first time, i had to adjust the idle mix due to the motor running too fast. The second time i trimmed with it, no problems with the idle. On both occasions i ran a full tank of gas and encountered no problems. The motor is strong enough to take down high growth weeds and small sapplings for which I'm sure it was never intended. Th e machine is well balanced and I had no problem with fatigue.

I purchased a featherlite sst25 from walmart on friday evening and returned it the following day. It didnt want to start and then when it finally started it would keep stalling. I followed the instructions and it still wouldnt stay running. After about 100 pulls later it finally started and would only run if I gave it gas. It would not idol. It took me two hours to trim my three acre yard. Do not buy this trimmer!
