This quintet date (with trumpeter Bill Hardman, tenor saxophonist Junior Cook, pianist Walter Bishop Jr., bassist Paul Brown, and drummer Leroy Williams) is very much in the bop vein. Despite its title (the name of a Hardman minor blues), much of the session is actually hard driving. John Coltrane's "Lazy Bird" and Hardman's ballad feature on "Smooch" are highlights of this excellent album. Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
