While Japanese gamers first visited the fantasy land of Popolocrois through the original 1996 PlayStation game, Agetec, Inc. introduces the Sony series to North America with its first release for PSP. This version of PoPoLoCrois combines the stories of the first two Japanese games into one adventure, and features storybuilding cutscenes produced by the team that created the spinoff television series. The game's presentation is colorful and celshaded, designed to mimic the look of a cartoon.

PoPpLoCrois is played from an isometric perspective. Combat is tactical and turnbased, similar to that of a traditional strategy RPG. Players guide the adventures of the young Prince Pietoro, whose mixed heritage makes puts him in a unique position to foster peace and understanding between humans and their traditional rivals, the Ryu.
