Five years after their breakthrough "Manic Frustration" album, Trouble finally released "Plastic Green Head", though most fans could only obtain the cd as an import from England. It proved to be every bit as good as "Manic", with producer Vince Wojn...o preserving and sometimes improving upon the massive guitar sound Trouble had become known for. Of course, the Sabbath influence remains strong, but the band also stake out their own musical ground on standout tracks like "Flowers". Pro Reviews: Plastic Green Head

  • All Music Guide

Trouble's sixth album, Plastic Green Head, continues the progression of their multi-layered, complex breakthrough record, Manic Frustration. As the band blends in elements of progressive rock and psychedelia to their heavy, monolithic riffs, they don't dilute it -- instead the experimentations make it more popular. Plastic Green Head suffers from a little from inconsistent material -- Trouble shouldn't be covering the Monkees' "Porpoise Song" and the Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows," no matter how wonderful the songs are -- but that doesn't prevent the record from ranking as one of their best.

Trouble

No band deserves as much credit for keeping the gospel of classic Black Sabbath-derived heavy metal (no to mention bell-bottoms) alive during the '80s as Chicago's Trouble. And while the group's legend never exceeded cult status, their work would serve as inspiration for an entire generation of '90s bands in the thriving underground doom/stoner metal scene. Trouble was ... Read more
