Best Bluetooth Headset (w/Treo 650 as of 12/2005)

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 5, 2005 | 30 out of 31 found this Plantronics Voyager 510 review helpful

Pros: Great sound quality, comfortable, super-light, good battery life

Cons: I tried to get too fancy with dual registration, no car charger included

After scouring the earth and grilling my peers for the best bluetooth headset on the market for December 2005, I came back with two: 1) Plantronics Voyager 510, and 2) Jabra BT500. My brother got the Jabra, I got the Voyager. The noise canceling mic... on the Plantronics was the clear winner! (the Jabra does have better battery life for those that can't get to a charger faster than 6 hours of talk-time) Bottom Line: Very comfortable, super light, great sound quality, good battery life, what more can someone ask for? Mistake: I did make one mistake of not leaving well enough alone, I tried to register my headset to also connect to my laptop (thinking I could use with my IP Softphone when I was near that instead of burning cell minutes). Net result; I got myself thoroughly confused and it took me a restart of the headset to clear things up (do-over). Tip #1: One quirk with the Treo 650 is that if the phone sees the headset on within 30ft or so, it tries to use the headset automatically.... which is good if you are wearing it, but not good if you have the set in the next room. That was a bit confusing for the first 30 minutes I had the headset. Tip #2: Spend some time trying the different ear pieces... it may be completely counter-intuitive in the end. I tried one of the ear-fobs and thought that worked great, wore it for hours and did not have a problem. Decided to just "see" if the other ones made a difference, and boy, it really did, even when I thought I was happy. Enjoy! Read more Less

    Great Bluetooth for SE W810i

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 17, 2007 | 6 out of 6 found this Plantronics Voyager 510 review helpful

Pros: Great fit, sound, range, features, and easy pairing!

Cons: Wish the ear hook was less visible.

Ok. This is my first bluetooth, but I have read all the ratings and reviews of most bluetooth headsets out there. For the price, this seems to be the best bluetooth on the market. Yeah, I know the Jawbone slightly has the upper hand on the 510, bu...t if you don't want to kick out 90-100 bucks for a headset, this is the one to get. It took only 60 seconds to pair with my phone and many other people's phones. I haven't had any complaints about static, wind, or any other inteference on my end or the other end since I bought it (April 2007). I have a 1200 square ft. Apt. If I place my phone on the couch I can walk anywhere in the Apt. without dropping the call. Battery life is good to where I only have to charge it every 3 days after moderate use and voice clarity is awesome. I never have to turn the volume to the max or else I will blow an eardrum! If I had to choose a flaw, I would say the design. I wish the part behind the ear was more slender and hidden from sight. Other than that, great bluetooth headset. Read more Less
