How does this differ from the "Evolution" box set which is also available by 20th Century Fox. Well the answer is the format and you would think that those behind the release of this would offer additional features once the films that comprise this series were on DVD nearly three years later! Otherwise all else is identical. Therefore for those who have yet to make the jump to the superior format please wait until additional effort is put forth by the studios who own this material. By the way Charlton Heston whose demeanor was always terse was therefore fit as the cynical Colonel George Taylor. There was never another role which was more suitable for Heston except perhaps as the elderly father of Thade in the recent update by Tim Burton. ...

The originals are great.

The first film of course is a cult classic. Heston lands on ape planet, very inquisitive, great ending.

The second was rather weak for the overall storyline. Typical Hollywood sequel though. major point is that the ape planet ends.

The third movie is where the "time-loop" of the 1st starts to come back in full force.
It was a bit silly though. Apes from ape planet return to Past. Key point Ceasar is born.

The 4th movie is pretty interesting. See the rise of Ceasar and ape revolt - the tide turns. Roddy Mac does well - this is perhaps the second cult film in the group.

The 5th - well like the 2nd probably wasn't needed. I never saw it.

I liked the storyline of these two civilations caught in this perpetaul "do-loop" of time. Ape destroys man, man destroys ape.

It's a madHouse!!!! ...
