    Bloody Fantastic, Savvy?

    Pros: Total Entertainment; Brilliant Special Effects, great "pirate" story that you would expect from a pirate fairytale, costumes were incredible and Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp...need I say more?

    Cons: Am still trying to think of one!

    What else can I say? This movie, considering that I am a 21 year old female, was not that appealing to me to begin with. Pirates (and dead ones at that) chasing after treaure? Hello? Boring! But...after being dragged along to this movie, I left with ...a massive grin on my face and the desire to see it again and again and again!In today's society, the movies seem to be all about teenagers, parties, crime, murder...and let's not forget all those bloody sequels (American Pie 3? Need I say more?). "Pirates" was a fantastic break-away. For two hours, you can sit enthralled by 17th Century culture, brilliant special effects and costumes, and a terrific script. The language, the clothes, the way of life, is something that makes you escape the rigours of everyday modern society, something that movies haven't done since the Golden Ages of Hollywood moves in the 30's and 40's, and something that movies are meant to do.I have NEVER enjoyed a movie so much. The story was easy to enjoy, and some of the movie aspects were incredible. I'll never forget sitting in the theatre and listening to the background music beat match the swords clanging together during Will and Jack's first encounter together. Then there's the all important "one liners" of Jack Sparrow (sorry...Captain, CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow). For a 21st Century girl, my friends now remind me that in 2003...people don't walk around saying things like "Savvy" and "Drink up me hearties, yo ho!". The film just takes that effect on you. I feel like I want to be a little boy dressing up and playing "Pirates" in the back yard.And, ok, I admit it. Orlando Bloom was a MAJOR drawcard and probably the only reason I agreed to see this movie in the first place. But, although he's certainly the eye-candy for the girls watching the movie, Johnny Depp's character steals the show as the lovable "dishonest" pirate "Jack Sparrow". Depp has the "affected by many years of alcohol" act down pat and I would be very disapointed if he didn't revist this character again. Plus, for the guys, there's Keira Knightly. Many thanks has to go to her, for proving that you can be absolutely beautiful, without a mini skirt.Overall, this movie has EVERYTHING for EVERYBODY. Great special effects for the movie buffs. Wonderful cast that EVERYBODY will appeal to (Depp for the older women, Bloom for the younger women, Knightly for...well...ALL the men). Sword fights and gun battle for the boys. Love and romance for the girls. Great lines and jokes for the teenagers. It's just a great movie...no matter which way you look at it, Savvy? Read more Less

    This movie was funny and exciting. I loved the characters. The coolest was when the pirates walked through the water. And if you haven't seen it, make sure you stay until after the credits, that is where the movie really ends.

    Pros: great actors ('specially Orlando, giggle), good storyline, great characters, Captain Jack Sparrow of course, "But why is the rum gone?"

    Cons: as if! there are NONE. this movie is PERFECT

    wow this movie was absolutely great!!! i totally loved it, and i had never really seen a pirate movie before. it rox sooooooooo much. Captain Jack Sparrow was great/hilarious/drunk, Elizabeth was great (Keira Knightley's a great actress), Will wa...s cute (same applies to Orlando), Barbossa was just the right amount of creepy, great memorable lines, i.e. "But why is the rum gone?," "I didn't deserve that," and a bunch of other Captain Jack-isms, including "savvy?" Plus his hand motions are so funny, you cry laughing.This is, I suppose, Orlando's first REAL role in which he actually talks more than once in a while and has real lines that make sense (cough Legolas cough). He did a great job! Okay, yeah, and he was HOT too!!!!!!!!!Keira Knightley did a great job of portraying Elizabeth. I haven't seen any of her other movies yet but I will soon, she's that great.THE MONKEY ROX! 'nuff said.go see this movie RIGHT NOW if u havent. if u are on a chair reading this, go to fandango and find a show for this. if, sadly, you have not seen it and it's nowhere near u, go and preorder the DVD. it will be worth it, i swear, on my honor and all that stuffsee ya later mateys!     To be honest, I only went to see Pirates of the Caribbean b/c of Orlando Bloom, but as soon as it started, I was amazed. It has the right amount of comedy, action, and romance. Johnny Depp's performance of Captain Jack Sparrow was outstanding and... made this movie alot more funny than it would have been if they had used someone ealse. They could not have found a better person to play the role of Will Turner than Orlando Bloom. He was great as a shy black smith in the beginning, and even better as an outgoing pirate at the end. This movie proves that Disney can come up with some amazing films instead of the boring sequels that they have been putting out, and is worth every penny you spend on it. Read more Less

    Pirates of the Caribbean was great. Just when you think nothing more exciting can happen it hits you with something big. Johnny Deep is fantastic. He's so funny, just his look and the way he talks makes you laugh. I've never seen him do comed...y and in this movie he is the comic. Orlando Bloom, what can I say, what a hottie. But that's not all, the way he presented this character was outstanding. He did a really terrific job and not a bad comedian as well. This was a truly spectacular movie it literally blew me out of my seat. With action, comedy, and romance and to mention a little mystery uncovered as well what else could a movie have. The Pirates of the Caribbean was by far the best movie and the most fun you'll have in a movie of the summer of 2003. Read more Less

    This is the first movie that I've seen more than once since I was a kid. My wife and I have now been 3 times. This is is most entertaining film I've seen in a long time. Pure enjoyment!
