Product Description: Pioneer DV-F727
Pioneers engineers are audiophiles and videophiles. They take great pride in producing equipment that is simply the best in both sound and image reproduction. For pure audio reproduction the Burr Brown audio DAC's are the high quality listening choice. For pure video Pioneer has brought to you advanced exclusive professional level picture processing and exclusive picture quality adjustments formerly reserved for the professional world alone. The DV-F727 uses Pioneer's exclusive video quality enhancer to figure out what the original film information is and to use the film frame to process the image. Bottom line is an extremely accurate, lifelike and true to the original film picture that will blow you away! Pioneers Gamma Control allows you to customize the contrast curve just at the lowest light or darkest areas of the signal. It is handy if you want to enhance the darkest scenes of your favorite film but don't want to change the bright parts of the picture. Viterbi RF Decoding Process applies a sophisticated parametric statistical analysis to enhance correction of disc data errors caused by fingerprints, dust, and warping, thereby reducing the error rate considerably. 10-bit Video D/A Converter delivers faster video signal processing than conventional methods, minimizing digital artifacts for enhanced digital video quality. Advanced Graphical User Interface simplifies control of a versatile range of operations, allowing all commands to be set up even as a disc plays.
One of the key design goals of a product that holds 300 discs is to make it easy to name discs and the Pioneer engineers clearly have achieved this goal. With the Auto Update feature the DV-F727 will check an individual disc or all of the discs in the player for CD or DVD Text. If the CD or DVD has text, it will enter the title and artist information into the menu. You can custom title your discs to find them easily. Once you've entered your titles and artist's names into the menu it is very simple to locate a disc. The DV-F727 has dual displays of disc titles, both on the TV screen and on the large dot matrix fluorescent front panel display! So when you get home and pour your favorite beverage, you simply spin the jog wheel on the front of the player or the remote to find that soothing or rocking sound that you crave. You simply must experience the sound and images of the DV-F727 to truly appreciate the entertainment that this engineering marvel can provide.

Almost a 5!
, January 2, 2003Reviewer: Jim Irwin - See all Jim Irwin's reviews3 of 3 Yahoo! Users found this Pioneer DV-F727 review helpful Ive used the Pioneer DV-F727 for almost two years now for both its CD and DVD capabilities with no problems. Its jukebox capabilities allowed me to load over 200 CDs and a dozen or so DVDs for quick playback. Just as claimed by the manufacturer, the machine will recognize a disk after removal and re-insertion, even if not in the same slot.
My TV is a 32 Toshiba and the picture is great. I cant speak to its large-screen digital capabilities, though. The glow-in-the-dark remote is very easy to use, and the variety of outputs should meet all but the most demanding requirements.
Im using an Onkyo THX-compatible receiver powering a Polk RM-6600 5.1 system. The sound is great.
This unit is large, so allow plenty of vertical space, and it will likely hang out the back of all but the deepest entertainment centers. The front-panel PS-2 keyboard/mouse jack comes in VERY handy for naming disks. Id recommend this method instead of using the remote.
The only gripes I have with this unit are minor:
- It only accepts 12 characters for the title and artist. Somewhat annoying in that Pioneer could have simply added more memory to the machine.
- The automatic recognition feature takes a painfully long time when used to update all disks. Use this only at initial setup or after significant changes.
I plan to purchase an identical player to chain them together. Pioneer claims that one unit acts as a master to control the second, displaying up to 600 loaded disks and cross-fading in random modes. ...

Recognizes DVD or CD format and you can categorize your collection and play only jazz, only rock, etc. The keyboard plug in to allow you to log the names of all the CDs/DVDs is a must.
The loading and unloading of disks into the unit is very easy. The 301st slot is a superb feature! Load 300 CDs and play DVDs in the extra slot, or use the extra slot when you rent/borrow. The Sony 200 changer does manage disks slightly faster and can slo-mo without going frame-by-frame, but the advantages are minimal.
I would also refer you to Shane Buettner's review of this product in the "2001 Ultimate Widescreen DVD Movie Guide." The final sentence of the review states it best..."This player is an easy recommendation on all counts."
NOTE: There is an "Elite" series model of this that has an advanced CD digital-to-analog converter built in, but that is really the only advantage. Costs an extra $100 or so. ...
