Cons: bad management after MCA aquired them
I am the author of Dixie Dreamin' and You Are The Wine...my name is John Gilbert. It absolutely amazes me that MCA would put these guys on the shelf! Anyone that has seen the group in a live performance will tell you...it doesn't get any better than ATLANTA! I wish the group well and also wish they were still touring!

Pros: Talent galore

The reason that the there was bad management for this extremely talented group was greed---and knivery on the part of the large recording companies. They were bought out because they were successful, and didn't conform to the upcoming genre of music. They were too "country" when pop was being filtered into country music. The original manager sold out the band, in the precepts that Atlanta would be superstars much like Alabama and others. (To which they completely deserved.) But were deliberately run into the ground by the buyout. (I know this from personal connections to the original management of this band.) It's a shame to see such talent gone awry. ...
