The Spinners were rolling in the 1970s, and this proved to be their biggest album ever. It peaked in the pop Top Ten at number eight, and they racked up four consecutive RB Top Ten singles, including the chart-topper "They Just Can't Stop It (The Games People Play)." Phillipe Wynne sang with an amazing mix of class and fire, sophistication and earthiness that hadn't been heard in soul circles for years. Of course, this is now out of print.

Ironically, the band's roots lay in Detroit, where they formed as a doo wop group during the late '50s. Throughout the '60s, The Spinners tried to land a hit by adapting to the shifting fashions of RB and pop. By the mid-'60s, they ... Read more
