Pros: The whole package
Cons: None I can think of
If you're looking for a great rock cd from a great rock band buy this. Breaking Benjamin is one of my favorite current rock bands. There are no gimicks, they aren't worried about their image...they just rock. I would recommend all 3 of their cds. They can rock circles around Hinder, Nickleback, Daughtery and all the other crap you hear on rock radio.
By the way, they also put on one helluva rock show so if they're coming to a town near you go check them out.
Pros: Everythings so awesome...lyrics...music.
..it was worth the wait!
Cons: You might not want the younger children to listen.
I was hoping they'd do even better! I liked the sons on their first albumn but there were only two songs I loved. I love almost every single song on this albumn. This is rock at its best.
Pros: I didn't fall asleep
Cons: Boring, boring , boring
After seeing that people actually gave this record 5 stars, I had to write my own review. You see I really wanted to like this album. I have listened to it repeatedly, just to be sure and my reaction is still the same. This album is the epitome of blandness. While there are a few good songs, less than halfway through the album I found myself becoming more and more bored by the monotony of it all. It just sounds like more of the same which really disappoints me because I really liked this band before this album. Ben sounds like he is atuck in the Breaking Benjamin vortex with his voice. Only occasionally does he actually try to sound a little different. He can actually sing when he wants, I wish he would do it more often. The music itself is just plain boring! The lyrics are just plain weak. I really expected more and am sorely disappointed that I wasted my money on this piece of crap.
Pros: Ben Burnley's vocal improvement, heavier, darker tracks
Cons: none
Breaking Benjamin's newest release, Phobia, is an amazing album. With most bands, the third album proves their staying power. If that happens to be the case with Breaking Benjamin, I believe they will be around for a long time. Ben Burnley's vocals have improved greatly from the past two albums. He's settled into a nice singing voice rather than mumbling or just screaming. The music is heavier, as are the lyrics, and I'm sure any new or old fan would love this album. I would recommend it to absolutely anyone who is into hard rock.
Standout tracks: "Evil Angel," "Dance With The Devil," "Here We Are," "Unknown Soldier," "Had Enough," and "You Fight Me"
Pros: ..definately sound lyrically
Cons: ...too many palm mutes :-)
After having fallen on the BB wagon, I found that listening to thier music was more than just a desire to have background noise. I came across the Phobia album and fell in love with it. After listening and learning thier older stuff, I found myself compelled to know the story that they may tell on this one. In my opinion they have mature (as most people do) There is nothing better than an album that breathes, and leaves you begging for more, While your still nibbling on the leftovers from thier previous work. This album rocked...and still does!!
Pros: The band actually has some heavier songs on this album than past releases.
Cons: Much of the disc sounds much like their past albums and also like Staind.
This new LP from Breaking Benjamin is little different from the band's previous releases. It still carries the same kind of gloomy, moody rock that made them well known a few years ago. The sound in general is very similar to that of the "gloomcore" sound made famous by Staind. It is mostly dark, moody sounding music. The songs do not sound like the band's past songs. But the problem is that rather than branching out with that sound, the band stays in neutral. It is good to have a certain kind of sound, rather than have all the songs sound the same, but it is as if the band fails to break much new ground if any on this release. It is possible to maintain a signature sound, but still branch out in different directions. But Breaking Benjamin fails to do that on this release. The one saving grace on the album is that they do have some heavier pieces in the tracks, "Evil Angel", "Until The End", and "Topless". But those are about the only high points of the album. Put those tracks on your MP3 Player, and just leave the album in the store.
Pros: great music
Cons: none
The cd is amazing. It differs from the first two cd's in some ways, but they have taken a step forward in their overall style and elements. Their melodic lines have come a long ways and the sound is overall a bit darker. Still has the same great Breaking Benjamin sound to it!
