    We purchased our system just over 2 years ago. Expected to have the unit last 5 years based on literature receved with the unit so we purchased the lifetime subscription. Now the hard drive is going (frozen images, sound lag) and the modem is dead. W...e paid around $300 for the unit and $250 for lifetime services. I can not think of any other consumer electronic or computer product I have bought in the last 10 years that had such a short life. We love the features and convenience of TiVo but I am not sure I want to spend $200+ to repair this unit or $500+ for a new unit and service contract. My opinion is the price is too high for the quality of product which you receive. Read more Less

    I've had my 14 hr TiVo for almost 2 years, and couldn't watch TV any other way now. In fact, I bought one for my parents.

    The very few times it "froze" I just rebooted the machine and it came right back.
