Pros: Has great features like an internal radio tunner.
Cons: Slow, unresponsive, bulky, and easily scratched.
I bought this product in October of 05. I am sorry to say this but I hated the device and after only a few days took it back to the store that I purchased it from and turned it in for an ipod. The features that are offered on the product are fantastic from the voice recorder to the internal am/fm radio tuner. The overall look of the machine is appealing to the eye and the technology used to interface with it is very cool in principal but in practice the heat sensitive touch screen was mediocre at best and you inevitably scratched the surface of the device while flipping through songs. The biggest problem that I had with the machine is that it lagged whenever it switched between songs and it was very slow to reasoned to the commands that I gave it. Now I got over waiting for computers to do what I ask of them a long time ago. I get annoyed by a one second or even half second wait for a response from my computer and I expect great performance from every piece of technology that I own. I realize that that is a little extreme and that there are a lot of people that the wait doesn't bother them. But even for those people I don't recommend this MP3 player and would suggest that you look at the 30GB ipod video which is a far superior product with a cheaper price tag.
Pros: aesthetics
Cons: battery life
This mp3 player definitely looks a lot cooler than most. I have had it for a couple of months. Before the Philips, I had a 40G ipod for a little over a year that died. I have learned that these devices are quite unpredictable and most definitely not reliable- consequently, I decided to downgrade to 20G. When my ipod died, I knew I would have to suck it up and risk another mp3 player purchase. I wanted a comparison of the most popular players laid out to me by a real person- not someone trying to sell me something or whatever. I found an article on a site called Associated Content about various mp3 players. After careful consideration- and some budget modifications, I decided on the Philips. The earphones hurt my ears- as is the case with all ear buds. The software is quite frustrating/borderline awful. iTunes has that part of the deal down. It's basically a crap shoot when it comes to buying a mp3 player. Good luck!
