Pros: Vibrant sound, built in radio, WMA supported
Cons: don't get me started.
Basically, I went out and bought this product without reading anything about it. Turns out that the "Philips 3DM" software blows, and refuses to work on any of my home computers.
Also, the Philips busted within' 2 weeks of use... and I recieved NO compensation. Talk about cruelty, eh?
On a good note, the mp3 player gave me better than CD quality music. That's about it.
All in all, yeah, it'll hold your music... but dont waste your hard earned money when you can get a Rio Carbon or iPod Mini for a little more. Both players provide excellent quality that live up to the names.
Pros: hahaha
Cons: hi people...
i like it... hope i can have it as soon as posible...
Pros: good sound
Cons: head phones suck
the head phones suck
Pros: good storage,small, good sound
Cons: breaks every three months
I got this product for Christmas and by March it stopped working. After several weeks of phone calls to Philips, they decided to send me a new one, which I didn't receive for another month. Now after another 3 months, this one has also stopped working. My nephew also has this product and is having trouble with his too.
Pros: compact size, good sound quality
Cons: battery recharging, problems uploading/deleting songs
The sound quality is good but I did go and purchase other (better quality) earphones. I also upgraded to MusicMatch Jukebox Plus - which basically speeds up the time it takes to copy CD's to the computer, as well as having better tagging facilities.
I can store just over 500 songs (most of which I copied at 128kbps).
The problems I have are with the battery and getting Musicmatch to see the HDD070.
Battery: It (often) won't stay in recharge mode (ie with the little lightning symbol) but wants to revert to the power cord symbol. On checking, the battery isn't charged, so I have to try again, and again to recharge it. Also the battery life is only about 5-6 hours.
This seems to be a hit or miss thing, most of the time this will happen, but occasionally it will surprise you, and charge properly.
I also have problems uploading/deleting songs 90% of the time.
When I click on Portable Device in Musicmatch Jukebox, I keep getting the window "If you have a portable device, make sure it is attached and powered on. You may need to download a plugin ... etc".
Well, of course, I have downloaded this plugin a hundred times. I have also updated to the latest firmware/software versions of everything!!!!!
It is so frustrating. 'My computer' recognizes the HDD070 and can see its contents, but Musicmatch Jukebox has trouble listing the songs.
I have spent hours trying to get the thing to work. Not happy Philips.
Uploading/deleting songs is also very slow, but I am grateful when this happens, so this is the least of my worries!!!!!
I emailed Philips (and MusicMatch) a week ago, with my problems, but so far haven't had a response from either (that's not to say I won't get one, but I haven't yet).
Next time I need to purchase another MP3 player (which might end up being sooner rather than later), I am definitely going to do my own homework, and not take the word of the salesman in the shop. I was initially sold on its price and HDD capacity. And this is good. But had I read other people's reviews, I would have steered away from the HDD070. I consider there to be a relatively high number of negative responses for this MP3 player.
I think I would have been better off spending more money for a reliable mp3 player.
My suggestion, do your homework - read all the reviews you can.
Pros: Small, light, easy to use, nice case, radio, storage!!!!!
Cons: Software is no good and musicmatch is worse!!!!!!
Lots of great features, when it let's you transfer. Software gave me a headache and it seems I was not the only one, since I have read the same issue from other owners. Musicmatch kept shutting down and the software provided continuously failed to recognize the mp3 when it was plugged in.
Pros: Customer Support, Battery Life, Sound, Size, Hard Drive Capacity, FM Radio, Doubles as a carry-away hard drive
Cons: Broke easily, Incompatible with ITunes music
While it was working, my HDD070 was great. I could put a lot of songs into the hard drive and it was very easy to use. The only problem I had with it was that the 200+ songs I bought on Apple ITunes before recieving this player were incompatible with the player. I had to burn all of the tracks to CDs and rip them through MusicMatch, which was supplied with the product.
However, I had my HDD070 for about three weeks before it suddenly stopped working. I believe it was due to a virus on my computer and when I called Philips Tech Support a nice guy walked me through trying to fix it myself to no avail. I was allowed to send it back to Philips and it is being repaired now. The review would be much worse if this were not the case. Not a bad player, a good alternative to the ipod even though it doesn't have as big of a hard drive as even the mini.
Pros: wma support, good headphones, cheap
Cons: software
this mp3 player has a pretty good price, sound and storage, but i dont like that there is a limit to how many characters you can use for a song name. a good majority of my song names are cut off. Also that you have to have music jukebox and hdd is annoying. Overall this is a good mp3 player just has some bugs that need 2 be fixed
Pros: great sound, decent price, not big, good head phones, 2gb!!
Cons: no "line out" option, bad software (but good free 3rd party software)
i wanted to cut down the price by excluding features i wouldnt use (like voice recorder, direct encoding, etc) and this turned out to be exactly what i was looking for. the only things it has is a radio, your music and data.
lots of disc space, plus wma support; so that streches the memory.
it looks nice and simple and is not too big.
i havent fully tested its battery life but it serves my purpose, recharging every couple of days.
the sound quality is excellent. but theres no "line out" feature. bass and equilizer effects make it sound a lot better.
the software stinks but you can get good, free 3rd party software called "sveta portable audio".
the pouch that came with it isnt very good since you have to keep taking the player out to press buttons (its a pouch, not a cover).
it acts as a removeable drive for the pc so you can easily store data on it.
scrolling is easy. the player arranges songs alphabetically according to artist, title, album or genre. you can make playlists on it with a pc.
overall a good value, good player. highly recommended.
