    Nice Piece of Hardware

    Pros: design, compatability

    Cons: none found yet

I am a Yahoo! Music Unlimited Subscriber and hence I can't use an Ipod. I have owned devices from Creative labs and Dell in the past that allowed me to port my subscription content over and this Philips player is definitely superior. Not only doe...s it look much better, which lets be honest is important, but the ease of functionality is also really intuitive. Oh yeah, and for $175 you get 6 gigs, which is actually the perfect size if you are like me and use it as a big jukebox full of only songs I actually like instead of every complete cd I have ever owned.... Pros: none

Cons: Will only work with Windows Media Player 10!

Waited on phone for approx 30 minutes for support. Then told that I had Windows Media Player 11 version, and could only load software if I removed Version 11. The Player software is only compatible with Windows Media Player version 10 (period). Tried... five times after removing version 11, only to be told that the version 10 I have is updated and therefore can't load! Taking this poorly designed piece of junk back and get my money! Philips used to be a good company. Read more Less

    Great piece of equipment

    Pros: All features are great

    Cons: broke down.

The 6GB GoGear is the best mini player I have seen. It has everything and more in comparison to IPods (except for all the accessories - docking station is available to hook up through home stereo). 6GB is big enough too where I put practically every ...song I could think of on the thing and I still have tons of room left. It is perfect for the gym (which is why I bought it in the first place and has an easily programmable playlist and excellent headphones - that is if you dont lose the rubber ear bud pads that fit.) After having the GoGear for a couple of months, the thing started to shut down on me out of the blue. I would be on the treadmill and it would power down and shut off. After having enough where I couldn't make it through a song or two, I called the Philips Customer Service Dept. I explained my problem and they said to send it back (with a tracking number) and they would exchange me with a new GoGear. I don't know if this is a common problem since I expected a battle and got treated nothing but very courteously on the other end of the phone. Nothing worse than getting something that breaks shortly after you buy it, only to be met by a skeptical (usually female) c.s. agent on the other end who treats you as if you are lying and only looks to make the experience as bad as possible their personal responsibility. The agent (male) said that it would take up to 15 business days to receive my GoGear after they received it. If all goes well and the new unit works as intended I will still be pleased because if working properly the Gogear is the best mp3 player out there for the money right now. Read more Less

Needs a lot of quality imporvement

By ElenaL  Mar 11, 2007 | 1 out of 1 found this Philips GoGear Jukebox HDD1630 review helpful

Pros: Sound quality, looks, cool headpones, radio+voice recording, don't have to download Itunes

Cons: slow, freezes, difficult to mange, impossible to download pictures

I got this a year ago. I loved how it looked and it was cheaper for the memory capacity and features compared to the ipod. It freezes on me a lot; sometimes just shutting it off works (pressing the power button and volume up at the same time) but the...re were a couple of times where I had to reset it completely (loosing all the info on it). Somehow the radio feature completely disappeared off of the device and no matter what I do, pictures are impossible to get onto this device. When making playlists, you often end up with two copies of the songs on the player. Fo whatever reason, the album covers don't show up on the device anymor either. The controls are not very comfortable. This is made even more uncomfortable because the device can get pretty slow and you have to push button several times. Well, it still plays music, and the headphones are neat--producing really great sound. THe device also offers a cool Voice Recording feature and a live radio recording feature which records tracks off the radio in really great quality--too bad that feature desappeared from my player and i haven't been able to get any support about that no matter how many times i send them emails or called. I really don't recommend this product. Just get the ipod, it is a much better built product and everything outthere is now made for ipods. Read more Less

    Hate it,

    By T-bone U  May 9, 2007

    Pros: Looks nice

Cons: Everything else - slow, akward buttons, compalibility w/ WMP, uploading PICS

Ok, if you want a slow music player then get this. The Gogear is nothing compared to an iPod. Trust me, I own both.
Also there is a lack of accesories not offered by phillips.
