Pros: When it worked it was great!
Cons: It broke after 15 months!
Most expensive paper weight ever! Philips customer service is a joke, "No warranty, no service!". The warranty was 90 days! We paid a "certified Philips Repair Center" $150.00 to pick it up and diagnose (no choice because if you take it to someone that isn't certified, they won't have the schematics and Philips gets very testy with the techs apparently). The diagnosis? The LCD is dead, and it will cost $1200 to replace! Don't ever buy a Philips product. Seeing the other reviews makes me think they are aware of the issue, and care nothing for their customer base, so fair warning and buyers beware. Don't make the mistake we all made only to have to add your review later down the line. =(
Pros: ambilight.. that's it.. (can live w/o that!)
Cons: Everything! DEFECTIVE!
Please do NOT buy this product. I am giving you a warning now. It is a waste of money. I paid $3200 at best buy, and only lasted for few months. At first, it turns on and off while you are watching, until it flickers and did not turn on at all. No power, whatsoever, only red light blinking. Now, the sad part, it will costs $2600 for repair plus labor. That's too much! Not worth it! Then how long will it last? A day? Customer service is terrible. I heard that Philips parts came from different manufacturer, and used some Samsung parts as well. Consumers who wish to buy plasma, please stay away from this brand. Choose Panasonic or Pioneer. Best buy don't carry this anymore. Recalls are on this as well. Now, some online stores are selling this for $1600! Half of what I've paid a year ago! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.. DO NOT BUY. I am concern for customers and I don't want you to experience the same crap that I've been through. I will extremely would not recommend...
Pros: Nice picture for 7 months out of 13
Cons: After only 7 months NO PICTURE I have not had the TV for the past 5 months. PHILIPS has taken over 5 months to get parts and I still don't have the TV. I started calling in January. Finally got it picked up in Febuary. 2 days till May and I still have no TV. I have called so many times. The problem seems to be the TV is not made well. PHILIPS sends parts so slow! I could have walked to Mexico and back with the parts after 5 months.
The TV has a nice picture during the time it works. Only 7 months. I was very careful with it. Never moved it, good airflow etc. After 7 months getting PHILIPS to fix it,(they contract it out) the company they sent it to could not get parts. They are sending the parts from Mexico and it has taken 5 months. I still do not have my TV. CHOOSE A BRAND WITH GOOD REPAIR RECORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: Great Picture-Ambilight is Cool
Cons: Philips Customer Service
I was initially very pleased with this TV. After about three months of light use the screen began to fail. I tried Philips Service and it was a nightmare. They sent technicians out who were not trained and bashed the Philips product. Philips customer service then sent out a different service contractor who kept the TV for three weeks and then brought the TV back (Damaged) because they claimed that they could not get parts for the unit from Philips. I was without a TV for over two months. I finally had to get my attorney involved. I now have a Samsung and Love it.
Stay Away From Philips!
Pros: No... buy another brand
Cons: No support from Phillips
Bought this TV 6 months ago at PC Richards, Paramus, NJ with an extended warrantee. After 5 months the TV would not go on. Was picked up on 9/1/06 by one of their authorized repair centers, Frontier Electronics in Hackensack, NJ. As of 9/11/06 They are "waiting for parts" SIX WEEKS LATER. DO NOT BUY THIS TV!!!
Pros: Ambilight feature is cool...that's just about it
Cons: I had it for 7 months and it's been in the shop for 4 months
I'm an extremely dissatisfied customer of Philips and I own the Ambilight model (50PF9630A/37). Well, I kind of own it. I pay for it while it sits in the service center. I had it for 7 months prior to the recall of almost 12,000 Philips TVs with certain Ambilight parts in them. A technician came to my home to replace the faulty parts three and a half months ago and it's been in the shop since that day. I have been on the phone with Philips over and over throughout this ordeal while they've sent part after part after part to the service center, in failed attempts to get my television working again. Their customer service is horrible and they are adamant that they are going to do everything they possibly can to avoid replacing the unit, no matter how long it takes. I have been told multiple times by their "customer service" reps that there is NO TIMEFRAME in which they must complete a repair before finally deeming the unit unrepairable AND to top it off, my warranty will still expire at the date of purchase, even if they still have it in their possession at that time. Basically, if they keep it for two and a half more months and get it working long enough for them to drop it off at my house, I'm on my own. I'm not a plasma expert by any means, but I hope this helps you and anyone else that reads this forum in making an informed decision on atleast which brand NOT to buy.
Pros: Do not know.
Cons: Customer service
Purchased in Dec. 2005, defective out of the box. Very little response from Customer Service.
I would recommend making another choice of manufacturer.
Pros: none
Cons: The worst customer service
Do not buy a Philips product what so ever. I bought a Plasma the first of December 2005 and it was defective.
It is now February of 2006 and the part to fix the plasma I have never watched is not available until March of 2006.
Customer Service said tough crap you have to wait.
DO NOT BUY PHILIPS OR YOU WILL BE SORRY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
