O.K. so I've been hearing about this band for a few months now. I finally picked up this disc and it's better than I ever hoped it could be. These guys are the future of rock!!!!!

    If you don't remember Atari...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 4, 2004 | 4 out of 5 found this Permission To Land review helpful

Pros: Killer riffs, and guitarists who know how to play the guitar

Cons: Will be misunderstood by all the Clay-Aiken-ites of American pop hell

If you were born during or after the Reagan presidency (or don't know who Reagan was), don't remember Atari (or think it is a company that makes retro flash games for the internet) or have never seen an episode of "You Can't Do That ...on Television," please don't bash on this album. I'm horribly sorry that you've grown up in a world that thinks Clay Aiken, Britney Spears and Limp Bizkit are "musicians," but the glory days of Arena Rock will be lost on you. This record calls on the legacies of bands like Poison, Black Sabbath, Journey and countless other bands that were all about sex drugs and rock and roll. This is just a fun album. They're not trying to make any statement. Listen to it for what it is, and enjoy it because it rocks! Otherwise, I'm sure there's an episode of American Idol on that you should be watching. One hit wonder????

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 26, 2003 | 6 out of 11 found this Permission To Land review helpful

    Pros: Some catchy hooks

Cons: Most of the songs suck.. and really only one good song/..

So Im watching MTV2 and the darkness video for I believe in a thing called love comes on and I really enjoy every bit about the song. Catchy guitar riffs, the singer hitting his falsetto's and the catchy attitude the band portrays, like a mix bet...ween Queen and Black Sabbath. So I go out the next day and buy the album, and while it was only 11 bucks, their are really only 3 ok songs and 1 really good song. Most of the time you cannot even hear the singer over the guitar work, and some of the lyrics are brain-dead. I should have figured out that this album would be a one hit wonder, when I saw the lead singer wearing a foreigner shirt and the band started talking about grunge music on MTV2.. yawn..zzzzz. Jokes on me.. arggg. Just record 'I believe in a thing called love' and dont buy the album.. im out... Read more Less

    Is this a joke?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 6, 2004 | 1 out of 1 found this Permission To Land review helpful

    Pros: 80's rock

Cons: 80's rock meets Robin Gibbs

Definitely original, but can someone tell me if this is a joke? If the guy didn't go into comical Bee-Gee-like fits, this might have worked. If this is what rock has to resort to to break free of the unoriginal sounds of generic cookie-cutter rock... bands of today, I'm turning to country-music. By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 30, 2004

    Pros: fun rock anthems

    Cons: similar song writing

the darkness formed in 1998 but only became famos in britain in ealrly 2003 . There debut single (growing on me) got to number 7 in the top 40 singles. The band imidiatly got a cult following. after i belive in a thing called love got released they ...became britains biggest selling artists with winning 3 brit awards beating the likes of justin timbalake and britains most popular group at the moment "busted" ( watch out for this group.) They came away with " best band ", "best album" and best new commers. The song which made them become an award winning band was at christmas 2003 when they realeased a chritmas single called " christmas time ". If you are going to buy the album go to hmv.co.uk or ebay.co.uk to get this single as it is coming up to christmas and is a family festival song. The best song for me on the album is "friday night" which is about the weeks work and realeasing it all on friday night in britain. Also "love is only a feeling " is a great acoustic song, these songs will make you belive that the darkness are more than just one song. The album is a must buy for all the rock anthemn inthusiasts. #cheers hope you like the album Read more Less

    Permission Granted!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 19, 2004

Pros: Musically Solid, Funny Lyrics, Classic Rock&Roll

Cons: Too much Filler after track #5, not enough Killer

Most people won't get "The Darkness", I'm not sure if I
even get it, but the music is solid if nothing else.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 26, 2004

    Pros: Good guitar
