This is a 2003 compilation containing 13 of Adriana Calcanhotto's most popular songs from the different phases of her career, up until 2003. An obvious highlight here is Calcanhotto's simple, elegant and sincere violão and voiceonly interpretation of the sad but beautiful "Devolvame," by Renato Barros and Lilian Knapp. "Devolvame" is one of those simply timeless songs, and is sure to go down in history as a modern classic of Brazilian popular music (MPB). Another very fine song (there are several on this compilation) is "Cariocas," whose lyrics are a series of statements about the general characters of "cariocas," as the inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro are called. "Mentiras," "Naquela Estação," "Senhas," "Marina" and "Por Isso Eu Corro Demais" are other excellent songs, most of which are dominated by Calcanhotto's clear, soothing voice and a bossa nova inspired violão.
