The 6.1 megapixel APS-C size CCD, 11-point auto focus mechanism, and sophisticated 16 segment multi-pattern metering delivers outstanding image reproduction, while the bright, high-precision Penta mirror viewfinder features a 96% field of view and 0.85X magnification.     Pros: price, in-body image stabilization, solid construction, image quality, lens availability

    Cons: slow burst, minimum megapixels

    I have had this camera for about 1 year and I really like it. I find the image quality (sharpness, color, etc) to be better than many cameras costing much more and having better features, including those cameras with double the megapixels. I love tha...t it is compatible with older and readily available K-mount Pentax lenses, and has image stabilization built into the body. I also like that it takes AA batteries - get some good rechargeables and you will still be ok even if you can't find an outlet; you can always find disposables. The menu is sometimes unneccessarily tricky to navigate, the auto-focus can be slow and wander, and has difficulty in the dark. The viewfinder could be brighter (as with most DSLRs). I wish it had HDMI out, more megapixels, faster burst rate - especially when shooting RAW, and a RAW+JPEG setting. But for the price, this is a great camera. Read more Less

    Pros: Easy-to-Use, Affordable Price, Versatile, Multiple Settings

    Cons: Dry Cell Batteries, 6.1 Megapixels

    If you are looking for an affordable DSLR camera at a reasonable price then the Pentax K100D Super is the camera for you. It is versatile, and easy for starters to figure out the only drawback I have come across is that it uses Dry Cell AA batteries ...and unless you buy good solid rechargeables it'll eat through them like candy. Overall, it is easy to handle and takes good quality pictures for a 6.1 Megapixel. I am a nature photographer, so the camera is sturdy enough for me to take anywhere and everywhere I go and it has already had it's trails of being a hardy camera. Read more Less
