About Paulo de Carvalho
The drummer and background singer for popular Portuguese band the Sheiks in the mid'60s, Paulo de Carvalho found fame after stepping into the limelight as a soloist. Leaving the Sheiks in 1968, de Carvalho went on to win the Festival RTP of Song in 1974 and 1976. Infused by North American RB, funk, and African music, he created some of the most exciting dance music to emanate from Portugal in the 1970s.
