    This cd is beyond powerful

    Pros: The music is superb

    Cons: Few mixing hick ups

This cd has no vocals what-so ever which I believe is an extremely good thing. It reminds me of the days of 99-2000. The trakcs are all powerful and best experienced if you haven't listened to "Just Be" to death. This would be an excell...ent introduction to Tiesto for his production value and not his mixing capabilities (for some of the part).1. Heroes- The intro to the track is unique. It is an innovating breakbeat track that one doesn't usually hear from Tiesto. But he made it and pulled it off well. My little gripe is the main lead sometimes sounds as from a keyboard (which it is but usually you want to blend it other elements better). 9/102. Breda 8pm- This is Dj Montana's edit of Dallas 4 p.m. And does a good job in bringing the cd to a more Tiesto BPM. Pretty static until the break in the middle but very good warm up song. 8/103. Ancient History- This is where the cd hits a whole new level. This is one of my favorite tracks on the album. It is simplistic, ethnic, and just fantastic. Lots of drums, bongos whatever to hit the primal gland. Then it adds in a bassline to die for. Super simplistic yet powerful at the same time. Once the flute hits you're off in another place. 10/104. Traffic- The mega hit by Tiesto still holds a place. This song is an excellent Tech-Trance song with synths that blow the mind. 9/10 5. Euphoria- Now the cd turns into old style trance, the good kind. The main lead is awesome and the overall atmosphere of the song...well..euphoric. One of my favorites. 10/106. Athena- This is the biggest hitter on the album. People will go nuts on this song. its the Tiesto remix of Albinoni's Adagio for strings and this song is a gem. It must be listened to in order to be enjoyed. 10/107. Olympic Fame- This song is pretty good by i think the synth may be a little to strong..if that means anything. 8/108. Lethal Industry- A true classic indeed. It still is a wonderful song. (many of the elements from this song were used in Ancient History, which I dont mind at all). 9.5/10 9. Coming Home- Theme from Norfell redux, basically. It is good. 9/10 10. Adagio For Strings- Tiesto's mix of Barber's Adagio for strings. A lot harder than the Ferry Corsten remix but still has power to it. 9/1011. Victorious- another new track with an interesting lead. Kinda powerful kinda not. Its an interesting track. 8/1012. Forever Today- The first track to "Just Be" And a fitting ending to a powerful cd. This song is epic beyond proportions. This cd is great and an excellent cd. But if you're looking for his mixing prowness then I STRONGLY recomment In Search of Sunrise Vo. 3. Both these cds are a must get. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Parade Of The Athletes

  • All Music Guide

A dance DJ at the opening ceremony of the Olympics is something new and risky, but DJ Tiësto pulled it off at the 2004 summer games in Greece. Parade of the Athletes is the soundtrack, not the whole soundtrack, but a collection so well put together you'd think the music was always supposed to flow like this. Tiësto calls on the sounds of the old, electronic greats more than ever before. The influences of Jean Michel Jarre, Giorgio Moroder, and Tangerine Dream at their most dramatic are obvious. Tiësto adds his own unique style of tension building and grandeur, but he doesn't play it safe. There's a surprising amount of dissonance in the slick trance here, always used to pump up the drama. Almost entirely instrumental and singlefree, Parade of the Athletes displays that DJ Tiësto is at his best when he's soundtracking. His previous albums suffered when they tried to hard, but here he tempers the ambition with respect and ends up a fantastic record. It's a unique excursion for the DJ and... not representative of his normal work, but it's also a giant step forward for the man and a great album to boot. - David Jeffries, All Music Guide Read more Less
