Papillon made a great impact on my life. It was two years ago and I was in the hospital just about to have surgery the following day.I could remember it like it was yesterday. I was so nervous since this was my first " cut with the knife "(an old say...ing my grandma wouldsay when someone was about to have surgery) that I became very anixious that night. The nurse advised me to relax and watch some television. Hesitantly, I agreed; flicking the remote until I reached Turner Movie Channel. There was a movie playing that night called "Papillon." I figured nothing else was on so I give this movie a chance. In the beginning of the movie I thought Steve McQueen was that same guy {Paul Newman} who played in the movie "Cool Hand Luke", for they both resemble each other so much. Right from the beginning, the picture griped such an emotion in me, I thought I never had, that during the end, I felt into a deep stupor due to the powerful impact it delivered. I was truely spellbound by Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman performance. Both characters displayed great energy and superb talent that was very captivating. All in all, "Papillon" gave me a purpose in life and a meaning never to give up in what you believe in; also appreciate life and the freedom it has to offer. All I know is that when Papillon was finished, my aniexty was gone, I wasn't nervous and I had a new outlook on life. I'll never forget a great movie like "Papillon!" Read more Less
