The PV-GS250, with its 3CCD Camera System, reproduces color in great fidelity by using a separate CCD for reds, greens and blues. It's the same 3CCD technology used in Panasonic professional broadcast equipment, resulting in 540 lines of breathtaking resolution. You can count on Panasonic 3CCD Digital Camcorders to give you colors that are as rich and vibrant as your life.

World-renowned lens-maker LEICA has developed an exquisite, multi-coated lens that helps add a high-level of detail and subtlety to your creations. With refinements like a 2-stage neutral density filter for aperture independent adjustment, you'll appreciate the remarkably crisp, true-to-life color that is a hallmark of Leica Dicomar optics.

The PV-GS250 captures still images with incredible detail at up to 3.1 Megapixels. The Quad-Density Pixel Distribution Technology, a technology used in Panasonic professional broadcast equipment, makes it possible to capture still pictures with amazing quality.

The Optical Image Stabilizer helps you obtain clear, beautiful pictures by compensating for any hand movement that occurs as you shoot video. Gyrosensors detect the amount and direction of movement, while a linear motor adjusts the lenses as needed to compensate. You get clear, sharp images in situations where hand-shake is typically a problem, like wide-angle shots or high magnification levels of the zoom.

An optical zoom this powerful works like a telescope to produce close-up shots with extraordinary clarity. And with the different zoom speeds, you can control how quick you go from a wide angle to telephoto zoom. Through the use of digital technology, the zoom ratio on the can be increased digitally, producing an incredibly close shot. You won't miss a single detail!

The joystick makes the camera much easier to use, letting you control all basic operations with one hand. As you shoot, just watch the image in the monitor and follow the instruction guide. You can handle a number of operations quickly and easily, without even taking your eye off the subject.

    Pros: simple to use

    Cons: has lens cap

I needed to take images at a reasonable resolution. Also have easy controls. I am now very satisfied with good image pictures to edit into my movies. As for ease of use, the joystick is a better then average way of menu access. The quality of the mov...ie is as good as any other camcorder I have tried. Capture to PC is simple and accurate. The price is high but the reward is, for me, worth it. I have no hesitation in recommending this camcorder for first time users as well as semi pros. My results so far have been much better than average. Read more Less

    Not what I thought

    By David R  Mar 7, 2006 | 4 out of 4 found this Panasonic PV-GS250 review helpful

Pros: Many extra features, manual controls

Cons: Color not up to other 3CCD systems

I had read several reviews of the camera and thought it would be a great 3CCD camcorder/still camera for the price. While the photos are acceptable, the color quality is not as vibrant and other 3CCD units I’ve used. There is a noticeable difference... with video shot with other 3 chip cameras and the GS250. I do like the multiple features and control the camera gives, including several manual setting both for video and photo. The joystick menu system was a little hard to follow at first, but with a little joystick Olympics, navigation is acceptable. It’s not the smallest camcorder out there, but is usable for hand-held shots. The tape is top loading so you don’t have to take it off the tripod for new tapes. The built in microphone does a decent job. The narration microphone is a bit clumsy for fat fingers. When everything is in automatic mode, it give a good clean picture. Focus is responsive and seems to keep shots clear. Read more Less

Camcorder offers strong image quality, with numerous manual controls that should appeal to picky consumers. The Panasonic PV-GS250 has a good selection of features that make it an attractive option for those who like to tinker with settings. It provides more manual controls than any of the other models we tested, and it has an external microphone socket. It also comes with a wired remote control and microphone combination--great for adding narration to a video. Read more
